We are totally dependent on the support of the public to help rescue and save these critically endangered red apes and their habitat.
Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia is a registered Australian charity. We have been raising funds for rescued Bornean orangutans since 2001, and every dollar we raise goes to work on the ground in Kalimantan.
Orangutans share 97 percent of our DNA. They are highly intelligent, they reason, they use tools, and they are being driven towards extinction by the loss of the forest they depend on.

Our partner
BOS Australia directly supports the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, an Indonesian non-profit founded in 1991 that operates under an official agreement with Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry.
The Foundation cares for more than 350 orangutans across Nyaru Menteng, Samboja Lestari and the Mawas Conservation Program, and manages habitat supporting roughly 3,000 wild orangutans in Central Kalimantan, alongside an Ecosystem Restoration Concession in East Kalimantan.
